TikTok LIVE chat games: games your viewers play in chat

A chat game is a TikTok LIVE game your viewers play by typing: an answer, a vote, a guess or just a word, and the game reacts on screen. Nobody has to send a gift to join, which is why chat games wake up quiet viewers. Gifts still have a job, as hints, boosts and last-second rescues. ScrollPlay has eight of them.

How chat games work on TikTok LIVE

The game reads your LIVE chat. In a quiz, viewers type A, B, C or D; in a poll, A or B; in a word game, the word itself. The players show up on screen, usually wearing their own TikTok profile picture, so typing one letter is enough to be part of the show.

Gifts do what chat can't: reveal a hint, add time, swing a vote or save a run that is about to fall back to a checkpoint. The free players keep the room busy, and the gifters decide the big moments.

Chat games work best when people are talking. A quiet room of five can still play a quiz together; a busy room turns a poll into a stadium.

Eight chat games to try

Each one runs in the ScrollPlay launcher for Windows and in a browser through ScrollPlay Web.

Quiz Rocket

Play Pass
Best for: trivia nights

A rocket climbs fifteen rungs to the Moon. Viewers type A, B, C or D, and every vote puts their face on the crew. A wrong answer starts the fall to the last checkpoint, and one gift in time saves the climb; other gifts buy lifelines like 50:50 and Ask the Crowd.

This or That

Play Pass
Best for: debates and hot takes

Two options and a timer. Viewers type A or B and can switch sides until time runs out. Gifts add ten votes, flip part of the leaders or throw the question out, and anyone who lands on the winning side three rounds in a row wears a crown.

Think Link

Play Pass
Best for: word lovers

One word on screen and eight hidden answers. Viewers type what it makes them think of, every hit puts their face on its tile, and each cleared word adds a link to one chain for the whole room. Gifts reveal letters, add time or fill answers.

Flag Flight

Play Pass
Best for: geography and travel streams

A flag appears and chat names the country, in any of twelve languages. The first viewer to get it puts their face on the flag, and every country named stays lit on the world map. Gifts reveal a letter, show the region or push the plane along.

Best for: big, noisy rooms

Chat races the host. Viewers type anything to join as a runner wearing their own face, and every like is a step toward the line, until the robot turns round and zaps back anyone still moving.

Block Party

Play Pass
Best for: music and hangout streams

Every comment drops the viewer onto a dance floor, no gift needed, and the camera rates each new dancer out of ten. Keep enough people dancing to unlock bigger venues.

Guestbook

Play Pass
Best for: welcoming regulars

Every comment and every follow signs the viewer's name into a book on screen. Gifts write in coloured ink, stickers or a gold pen, likes leave hearts, and returning viewers see how many times they've visited.

Sketch Bot

Play Pass
Best for: creative and art streams

A robot draws portraits of your viewers in blue ink, from their own TikTok profile pictures. A comment gets a handwritten welcome, a follow gets a mini portrait, and likes refill the robot's ink.

How to run a chat game on your LIVE

  1. 1

Pick one that fits the room

Quizzes and polls suit a chatty room, races and dance floors suit a big one, and a guestbook suits a stream full of regulars.

  2. 2

    Connect your TikTok LIVE

In the ScrollPlay launcher, connect with your TikTok @username. The game reads chat, likes and gifts from your LIVE through that connection, and you never type your TikTok password.

  3. 3

    Say the rule out loud

"Type A or B." Repeat it every few minutes for the people who just arrived. A new viewer joins a chat game the moment they understand it.

  4. 4

    Put the gifts on screen

An Action Board on your overlay shows which gift buys a hint, a boost or a rescue, so the viewers who want to do more know how.

  5. 5

    Read the names

Every answer comes with a name. Call out the first correct guess and the longest streaks: being named is the reward chat players come back for.

Chat games or gift games?

Chat games

Everyone can play, so they warm up a quiet room and keep new viewers talking. Gifts are the extras.

Gift games

Every move is a gift, so each one lands big. Best once your room is already gifting.

Mix them

Open with a chat game while people arrive, then switch to a gift game like Tumble Truck once the room is warm. More formats in TikTok LIVE game ideas.
